Until Dawn, Silent Hill, and Horror Games That Learn You

Nick got to play an early build of the PS4-exclusive Until Dawn, and came away delighted and saddened to be reminded of one of his favorite horror games - Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

"This video game psychologically profiles you as you play. It gets to know who you really are then uses this information to change itself, it uses its knowledge against you, creating your own personal nightmare. This game plays you as much as you play it."

Doesn't that sound like a fun time? The quote above is the warning that shows up on screen when you first begin to play 2009's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii. The game is essentially learning your in-game behaviors and finding new ways to mess with you.

Five years later, games like Until Dawn and Silent Hills are taking this new style of psychological horror to new levels, tailoring gaming experiences based on what you tell the game you are afraid of! Join Nick as he discusses his now scarred psyche after playing Until Dawn, and how much it reminded him of one of his favorite horror games - Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
